Needle holder Olsen-Hegar for sutures, stainless steel

Needle holder Olsen-Hegar, a surgical instrument made of stainless steel, is used for cutting sutures and supporting needles during procedures. It is used with intermediate weight sutures, usually in plastic surgery procedures.

These instruments are intended for use by specialized personnel specially trained in how to use and care for them. Incorrect use, poor or inadequate maintenance can quickly lead to damage to the instruments. The first time and after each use it is recommended to clean, dry and sterilize the instruments. Instruments must always be cleaned before sterilization. For automatic cleaning, use only washing equipment with approved and certified detergents. For manual cleaning, use approved and certified detergents, brushes and running water. Always follow instructions on how to use the detergent; clean the instruments both when they are open and closed; rinse for 3 minutes and check if the water enters and exits several times in the blind holes. Use completely demineralized water in the final rinsing phase. Instruments that are not dry may suffer corrosion damage. Always dry the instruments. The instruments must be sterilized in an autoclave using the moist heat sterilization method at 132 °C for 15 minutes before use in surgery. It is recommended that sterilization temperatures do not exceed 137 °C.
