PRIMA scalpel blades are made of alloy with a high carbon content, which provides a much more resistant sharp edge. The slats are individually packed and hermetically sealed in aluminum foil. The product is sterile for single use.

Blade #10 is a blade commonly used for surgical procedures. It is used to make large incisions through the skin and subcutaneous tissues. It is similar to the #20 blade, which is slightly larger. The #20 blade is used for larger incisions through thicker tissue or for soft tissue dissection in larger animals.

Blades #10, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24 are all curved and are used to make incisions. The sharpest area of these blades is the tip of the blade's curvature. This is the place on the blade that is used to make the incision. Because the #15 is the smallest of these curved blades, it is often used for small animal surgery where short, precise incisions are required. Scalpel blades size 10 to 17 are compatible with handle size 3, and blades size 18 to 24 are compatible with handle size 4.
