Description
ALCALACTONE Suture Polyglycolic Acid 75% and Co-Caprolactone 25%, monofilament, purple thread, 75 cm USP6/0, metric: 0.7, reverse cutting 3/8, length 13mm, Sterile EO, 12 pieces/box. ALCALACTONE sutures are synthetic absorbable sterile surgical sutures made of Polyglycolide and caprolactone. ALCALACTONE sutures when implanted into a living organism, it is absorbed by that organism and cause no undue tissue irritation. ALCALACTONE sutures are non-antigenic, non-pyrogenic, and elicit only a mild tissue reaction during absorption. ALCALACTONE sutures meet all requirements for synthetic absorbable surgical sutures specified by the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and United States Pharmacopoeia (USP). To ease of operation, ALCALACTONE sutures are colored D&G violet No:2. ALCALACTONE sutures have been presented in USP 6/0 – USP 2 gauge sizes in a variety of lengths from 10 cm to 150cm, as non-needled or attached to stainless steel needles of varying types and sizes. INDICATIONS: ALCALACTONE sutures are indicated general ligation and soft tissue approximation in which absorbable suture is needed. They are indicated for skin covering, general soft tissue approximation or fixation, gynecology dermatology, plastic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, urology, general surgery, and ligatures. ACTIONS: ALCALACTONE sutures elicit a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissue and ingrowth of fibrous connective tissue. Progressive loss of tensile strength and eventual absorption of ALCALACTONE suture occurs by hydrolysis, gradually decreasing the strength in the body. The absorption process begins with a loss of tensile strength followed by a loss of mass. Implantation studies indicate that ALCALACTONE suture retains approximately 60%-70% of the original tensile strength at one week and over 30%-40% at two weeks post-implantation. Absorption of ALCALACTONE suture is essentially complete between 90 to 120 days. The wound support period of ALCALACTONE is approximately 21 days. Depending on the organism, changes may occur in the related ratios. CONTRAINDICATIONS: Since ALCALACTONE sutures are absorbable, they should not be used where extended tissue approximation is required.
