Description
Mechanism of action: Sodium phosphate solution for rectal use has an osmotic effect by extracting water from adjacent tissues and increasing intestinal volume, without being absorbed by the intestinal mucosa. This increase in volume lubricates and moves the fecal mass, stimulating its evacuation.
Indications:
• Treatment of constipation, especially when it is of long duration, which creates considerable discomfort and general malaise in the patient.
• Clinical conditions requiring pre- and postoperative bowel emptying, preparation for radiological tests, and endoscopic investigations of the last intestinal section.
• It is indicated in the treatment of constipation involving associated disorders such as severe abdominal pain, swelling, and difficulty in evacuation or as a wash of the enteric tract in cases of preparation for surgical interventions or particular diagnostic investigations.
Composition: monobasic sodium phosphate dihydrate, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate. Excipients: methyl sodium p-oxybenzoate, purified water.
Instructions for use:
1. Sodium phosphate enema can be used at room temperature. If you prefer warm, place the container in warm water (by immersion or under the tap).
2. For best results, lie on your left side.
Remove the rectal cannula from the protective bag included in the package. Remove the screw cap and screw the rectal cannula onto the bottle. Hold the bottle and gently insert the cannula into the rectum, then press the bottle completely. It is normal for a solution residue to remain in the bottle. At the end of administration, remove the cannula and throw away the empty bottle. Remain lying down until the urgent need to evacuate.
Warnings: Do not use if you have hypersensitivity or allergy to one or more components. Do not use for prolonged treatments. After a short period of treatment without appreciable results and in case of persistent constipation, it is important to consult a doctor to rule out other pathologies. The enema is for single use only, therefore each bottle should be used for a single administration only. Keep out of reach of children. The product is intended for clinical investigations only. Pregnancy and lactation: although there are no obvious contraindications for the use of the device during pregnancy, it is recommended to use it only if necessary and after consulting a doctor or pharmacist.
