Polyglycolic acid suture, resorbable with purple thread, 75cm long has the following characteristics: • 70%-80% of the original is retained until initial 14 Days; • 50% of the original is retained until initial 21 Days; • There is a subsequent loss between four to five weeks post implantation; • Complete absorption usually takes place between 60 and 90 Days; • High tensile strength; • Excellent knotting ability; • Smooth passage through tissue; • Easy handling. It can be applied in: • Gastrointestinal procedures; • Gynaecology/Obstetric procedures; • Ophthalmic procedures; • Orthopedic procedures; • Urology procedures; • Skin closure (intracutaneous, subcutaneous); • Ligatures. Instructions of use: Combinations of PGA wires and needles are used depending on the type and size of the wound, surgical procedures and techniques, the surgeon's experience and the patient's clinical condition. PGAs are generally intended for use in soft tissues, mucosa, bowel integration and ligation of other tissues including blood vessels. The use of PGA includes: general surgery, plastic, urology, gynecology, orthopedics and obstetrics. This suture may be inadequate in elderly, malnourished and weakened patients or in patients with conditions that may delay wound healing.
